We need your support...

Your generous contribution will make a huge difference in the life of a child with cancer!
DC Candlelighters is a local affiliate of the American Childhood Cancer Organization. The ACCO has more than 50,000 members and 40 affiliate groups across the country. DC Candlelighters began in 1970 by 25 parents who met in the halls of Children’s National Medical Center to offer each other support during their child’s cancer treatment.
Our all-volunteer Board of Directors consists of parents experienced with childhood cancer. Our children are warriors, survivors and angels. The Board works in collaboration with other pediatric non-profits and clinical professionals to best serve the needs of those in our care. We are a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, supported by the private donations of foundations, corporations, small businesses, individuals, and through our own fundraising activities.
DC Candlelighters extends its support to children battling cancer, their families, long-term survivors, as well as bereaved families residing or receiving treatment within a 50-mile radius of Washington, DC. Our services are provided at no cost, made possible through generous financial contributions, sponsorships, and fundraising initiatives. The children and their families benefit from our support that comes in many forms. We provide some fun and smiles through events like Family Fun Day, Spa Day, a Halloween Party, monthly bingo games, and Rachel's Tea Party. We also provide financial support to families experiencing financial hardship as well as scholarships to children who recover and go on to attend college. And finally, we provide emotional support to families who lose their child to cancer.
